Lib Dem Supporter Tells Mental Health Story

The Liberal Democrats revealed plans to spend £3.5bn on mental health care in a statement on March 31. One Lib Dem supporter, Kat, who suffered from an eating disorder as an adolescent, recounts her experience with the public healthcare system. Having been deemed “not sick enough” to meet the criteria for treatment, she turned to private treatment.

“I don’t think it’s good enough,” she says. “We know early intervention is cost effective…and saves lives.”

The Lib Dems’ approach to mental health, including depression, post-natal support and tackling social stigma, is outlined in the party’s Manifesto of the Mind document. Credit: YouTube/Liberal Democrats
