Locals Endorse Rebels' Fight Against IS

The popular movement, Al Raqqa Revolutionaries, released a statement in support of Al Raqqa Revolutionaries’ Brigade on February 23, an armed group known to have supported Kurdish forces in their fight against Islamic State militias in the region.

The statement, with English subtitles, described Al Raqqa Revolutionaries’ Brigade as a “revolutionary incubator” capable of facilitating the liberating of Al Raqqa from IS.

The statement endorses a Code of Ethics, reportedly published by the Brigade, and calls on all armed groups in the area to reject extremism, sectarianism and hatred, and to unify to liberate the city, which has been claimed by IS as the de facto capital of the Caliphate.

Local activist group, the Local Coordination Committee in Al Raqqa, also posted the video statement to its Facebook page.

The Al Raqqa Revolutionaries Brigade often posts content of their fight against the Islamic State in Kobane and elsewhere on its Facebook account.
