'March 2 Justice' Arrives in Newark

Protesters began a 250 mile walk from New York City to Washington, D.C., on Monday, April 13, as part of a movement for criminal justice reform named the “March2Justice.” The walk will culminate in a rally and concert in Washington on April 21. The movement aims to achieve “criminal justice reform legislation that will end racial profiling, demilitarize our police forces, and invest in our communities.”

Protesters set off on Monday morning from Staten Island, the New York City borough where Eric Garner died in the stranglehold of an NYPD officer. The protesters then closed the Outerbridge Crossing for an hour as they crossed the Hudson marching into New Jersey and on to Newark, as seen in the video. In Newark, they were welcomed at a local community center where they received a hot meal, according to reports on social media.
