Mark Carney appointed next governor of the Bank of England

Mark Carney has been appointed as the next governor of the Bank of England. British Chancellor George Osborne made the announcement in parliament. Carney is the current governor of the Bank of Canada and is Chairman of the Financial Stability Board, based in Basal, Switzerland. Carney has been credited with protecting Canada from the worst effects of the financial crisis. He replaces Sir Mervyn King.
