Migrants Fleeing Syria Arrive on Greek Island of Lesbos

Footage provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) documents some of the hundreds of migrants arriving daily on Greek shores, many after being rescued by the country’s coastguard. According to the UNHCR, about 600 refugees arrive daily on the Greek islands, including Syrians fleeing conflict at home.

Here, Syrian refugees speak of their fear for their lives, both in Islamic State-controlled parts of Syria and while traveling to Europe. Hussein, from Aleppo, traveling alone, says he is desperate to find treatment for his son’s rare neurological condition. “I knew I would either live or die doing this,” he says.
