More than 120 Palestinians killed as Israel continues Gaza offensive

The death toll from Israel’s air attack on the Gaza Strip is continuing to rise with over 120 Palestinians dead. Israel says it wants to put an end to Hamas firing rockets at its citizens. No Israelis have been killed although eight were injured including one seriously when a rocket hit a petrol station in Ashdod. The rocket attacks intensified last month after Israeli forces arrested hundreds of Palestinians and carried out house raids after the abduction of three Jewish teenagers who were later found killed. Israel blames Hamas for the murders although Hamas denies it. In Gaza City, residents searched through the rubble hoping to find survivors. Two mosques were among the buildings destroyed. Israel accuses Hamas of hiding weapons near mosques and schools and blames them for causing any loss of life. Relatives of those killed, including three Hamas police officers, gathered at a local morgue to identify their loved ones. More than 900 Palestinians have been wounded, a spokesperson at the Gaza Health Ministry said.
