More arrests made during second day of XR protests across London

At least 90 people have been arrested as Extinction Rebellion protesters kicked off two weeks of demonstrations outside Parliament. Thousands have descended onto London's streets, where they blocked roads, chanted, banged drums and made a number of speeches. XR said it planned to "peacefully disrupt the UK Parliament in London" with 10 days of demonstrations until MPs backed the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill. Last year, more than 1,700 arrests were made during the movement's 10-day “Autumn Uprising”, which saw major disruption across the UK.
