National Broadband Network Satellite Launched in French Guiana

The Sky Muster, a satellite for Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN), was launched in French Guiana on Wednesday, September 30. The Sky Muster satellite will begin operating in the second half of 2016 and will service more than 200,000 rural and remote Australians, including on Norfolk, Christmas, Macquarie and Cocos islands, according to the ABC.

The launch was Arianespace’s ninth mission in 2015 and also carried the ARSAT-2 satellite for Argentinian telecommunications.
