National Zoo's Baby Panda Starts Scooting, Not Walking Yet

The Smithsonian’s National Zoo said on September 22 its baby panda is scooting around its den but isn’t walking yet. The zoo released new video of the panda’s latest veterinary exam that took place on September 17. He also measures 31 centimeters from its head to tail. The cub also weighs 2.95 pounds, according to the zoo.

Giant panda Mei Xiang gave birth to twin cubs on August 22. The younger, weaker cub died after a few days. Testing showed the surviving cub is a boy, and the zoo has yet to name him. Credit: YouTube/Smithsonian’s National Zoo
