Obama Calls for Peace in Upcoming Nigerian Elections

US President Barack Obama issued a video message to Nigerians on March 23, urging them to refrain from violence and intimidation during the upcoming elections. The vote was originally scheduled for February 14, but was postponed to March 28 due to continuing threats from the Islamic insurgency group Boko Haram.

Obama called “on all leaders and candidates to make it clear to their supporters that violence has no place in democratic elections,” and on “all Nigerians to peacefully express your views.” Credit: YouTube/The White House
