[Updated] Obama Thanks 'Crack' Pastry Chef in LGBT Rights Speech

US President Barack Obama gave a speech at a reception to celebrate the last day of Pride Month on June 30. During the speech, he listed the LGBT rights policies introduced during his time in office, including a hate crimes bill (2009), repealing the ’Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy for the armed forces (2010), a national HIV/AIDS strategy (2010), defeating the Defense of Marriage Act (2011), and measures to prevent bullying in classrooms (2012).

He spoke of two executive orders announced on Monday that offered transgender workers formal protection from discrimination by their employers. He ended the speech by saying there was still more work to be done.
