OSCE Monitors Withdrawal of Heavy Weapons in East Ukraine

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine has been overseeing the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the country’s east, providing support for a ceasefire that was implemented on February 15. As this video explains, the OSCE “is tasked to monitor and verify the withdrawal of heavy weapons by both Ukrainian forces and the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.”

Footage shows the withdrawal of Ukrainian weaponry and vehicles, including “19 support vehicles, 15 armored personnel carriers, and four trucks.” According to the OSCE, the mission will require “unfettered access to all areas, including buildings,” in order to verify that all heavy weapons are withdrawn.
