Pedestrians Walks the Champs-Élysées as Paris Goes Car-Free

Pedestrians sauntered down the middle of Paris’ Champs-Élysées on Sunday, September 27, as parts of central Paris was closed to traffic. The initiative, an attempt to beef up the city’s green credentials ahead of hosting the United Nations World Climate Conference later this year, ran from 11am to 6pm local time.

Although buses, taxis, and emergency services were still allowed to use the routes, as this video shows, the streets were largely empty of any vehicles. Credit: Instagram/souriswingette
