Police Make Arrest at Baltimore Protest

Protesters marched through Baltimore as the first court hearing in the Freddie Gray case took place on September 2. The protest wound around the Inner Harbor area, and police arrested at least one protester who claimed he had been hit by a car, according to the Baltimore Sun. Officers also were spotted putting on tactical gear.

Six police officers were charged with the death of Freddie Gray in June. Authorities say Gray was unlawfully arrested and sustained injuries caused by the officers while in custody.

Protests erupted following Gray’s arrest and his death a week later. The protests bubbled into unrest in the Penn-North neighborhood, which triggered curfews and the activation of the National Guard. Credit: Twitter/Corey Payne
