Pope Francis Visits 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Prays for Peace

Pope Francis visited the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum on Friday, September 25. He laid a rose at the memorial in honor of the lives lost during the 2001 terrorist attack before taking part in an interfaith service inside the museum.

Francis’ six-day trip to the United States is his first. Before going to the memorial, Francis spoke before the General Assembly at the United Nations. After arriving in Washington, D.C., on September 22, Francis visited the White House and spoke to Congress. He is scheduled to celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden later on Friday and will wrap up his trip in Philadelphia this weekend, participating in the World Meeting of Families.
