President Obama Hosts Iftar Dinner for Ramadan

President Barack Obama addressed racism at the annual White House Iftar dinner on June 22. “As Americans we insist that no one should be targeted because of who they are, or what they look like, who they love, how they worship. We stand united against these hateful acts.” said President Obama, addressing the killing of three Muslims in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in February and the June 17 Charleston church gun attack.

President Obama also paid tribute to Samantha Elauf who, with the help of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, sued Abercrombie & Fitch in the Supreme Court for discrimination over wearing the hijab.
