Protesters Gather on Baltimore's South Howard Street

Hundreds of protesters marched through Baltimore on Saturday, April 25, almost a week after a local man, Freddie Gray, died in police custody. After being peaceful most of the day, the protests turned more violent with reports of marchers smashing police vehicles and police engaging with them. The march wound by Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and confrontations between fans and protesters broke out. Baltimore Police made 12 arrests.

Gray was arrested on April 12 and, while in police custody, suffered a spinal cord injury. He died a week later, and protests in Maryland city have occurred every day since, as people look for answers from the Baltimore Police Department.

Police are investigating circumstances around the arrest. Authorities released surveillance video from the time of Gray’s arrest taken by city cameras.
