Protesters Rally at Funeral of Leader of the 1967 Leftist Riots

People rallied at the funeral of Yeung Kwong, the leader of pro-Beijing riots in 1967, on Sunday, June 14, ahead of next week’s controversial legislator’s vote on the future of Hong Kong elections. A larger protest is planned outside the government headquarters in Admiralty later on June 14.

The political reform package, which will be debated on Wednesday and voted on by the end of the week, outlines a framework for the election of Hong Kong’s chief executive in 2017. Under the proposed package, candidates must be chosen by a nominating committee and must be “a person who loves the country and loves Hong Kong”. Credit: Twitter/@lostdutchhk
