Protesters Want Answers on Baltimore Man's Injuries in Police Custody

Protesters gathered outside Baltimore City Hall on April 20, expressing outrage over a suspect who died after suffering from a medical emergency while in police custody. Police said they arrested Freddie Gray without force or incident, but he suffered a medical trauma while in transport, according to The Baltimore Sun. Gray died on April 19, a week after his arrest.

Baltimore Deputy Police Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez said Monday that an autopsy revealed Gray had suffered “a very tragic injury to his spinal cord.”

Gray’s family contends his spinal cord was severed while he was in police custody. Police said a video of the arrest does not show any incident, and the cause of the injuries remains under investigation. Credit: YouTube/Doni Glover
