Putin Suggests Currency Union Between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a trilateral meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, on March 20, where he met with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus. The three discussed trade and economic cooperation. Speaking during a press conference following the talks, Putin said, “It’s time to think about the prospects of creating a currency union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan”.

“It’s easier to protect the common financial market when working shoulder to shoulder,” Putin added. Credit: YouTube/Kremlin
