Queen of Denmark Kicks Off 75th Birthday Celebrations a Week Early

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II decided to start celebrating her 75th birthday a week early, taking an open carriage ride with horses — reserved only for special occasions — through the city of Aarhus on Wednesday, April 8. The queen and Prince Consort Henrik later showed up on the balcony of Aarhus’ town hall, and in the evening planned to attend a concert featuring, among others, American vocalist Josh Groban.
