Rand Paul Dines on McDonald's Dollar Menu to Save Campaign Funds

Since officially announcing his candidacy for US President and his aim to take the Republican nomination, Senator Rand Paul has wasted no time in hitting the campaign trail. Paul started off in New Hampshire, which will host the first primary election on January 26, 2016.

The Kentucky senator has come up with a number of innovative ways for people to contribute funds to his campaign, including selling official Rand Paul merchandise on his website.

One way voters may have not expected the senator to cut costs is fast food.

While in New Hampshire on April 8, Paul posted a short video on his Facebook page from outside a McDonald’s in which he says “Thanks for helping us with the money bomb. We’re eating at the dollar menu at McDonald’s to make sure your money is spent wisely.”

Paul’s video has generated a large reaction on social media, some of which is included below. Credit: Facebook/Rand Paul
