Record Rain Floods Charleston's Streets

Record-setting rain in the Charleston, South Carolina, region caused flash flooding that closed roads on August 31. Nearly seven inches of rain had fallen, breaking a previous record for daily rainfall of 2.61 inches set in 2006, according to local media. Most of the flooding had dissipated by the afternoon, and a slight chance for more rain remained.
