A "Relaxed" Blatter Asks Fans for "Trust and Confidence" After FIFA Election

Sepp Blatter said he felt “relaxed” after a “difficult” FIFA congress on May 29, during which he was re-elected to the FIFA presidency amid charges of racketeering and corruption against 14 FIFA officials, seven of them in senior roles. Speaking in a post-election interview for FIFA TV, Blatter said he has taken responsibility for the “tragic” events, and would rebuild the credibility of the organization.

Referring to a handshake between the presidents of the Israeli and Palestinian football associations, he said “it was a very, very good congress”. He insisted that he knew how to build up a better image of FIFA, though he could “not disclose it now”. He asked fans for “trust and confidence”. Credit: YouTube/FIFA TV
