Rescuers Search Rubble for Survivors of Gaza Strikes


A ceasefire between Palestinian militants and Israel ended with an exchange of rockets launched from Gaza and airstrikes on August 19. At least three people, two women and a child, were killed in a strike against a house in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City. Hamas deputy leader Moussa Abu Marzouk said the wife and child of Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif were killed in the strike.

The Israel Defence Forces launched strikes against at least ten targets inside the Gaza Strip on August 19. Hamas and other Palestinian militants fired over 50 rockets into Israel with at least one rocket penetrating Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence shield to land in Tel Aviv.
