Rocks, Bricks and Water Bottles Thrown at Police During St Louis Protest

St Louis police chief Sam Dotson said protesters threw rocks, bricks and water bottles at officers during a protest on Wednesday, August 19. Dotson said officers used shields to protect themselves and deployed smoke and tear gas to disperse crowds. He said nine people were arrested as demonstrators “crossed the line” between peaceful protest and unlawful actions.

The St Louis Post-Dispatch said protesters burned an American flag on Page Avenue and set fire to a car. This came as police fatally shot an 18-year-old man, who reportedly pointed a gun at officers earlier in the day. Police also said they confiscated crack-cocaine and four guns, three identified as stolen, at a residence. Credit: YouTube/StLouisMetroPD
