Security Threat Forces Cancellation of U2 Stockholm Gig

A U2 concert at Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena was evacuated and eventually canceled on September 20 due to a security breach, according to statements from both Swedish police and U2.

According to Swedish news site Aftonbladet.se, the official message initially circulated among fans was that there was a technical problem with ticketing. However, reports from Expressen, later confirmed by the statements, said an armed man had been reported inside the arena, prompting a search for the suspect.

A number of people were initially allowed entry before access was blocked to thousands waiting outside. The venue was evacuated 20 minutes after the scheduled start time.
