Several Deaths Reported in Attack on Tunis Museum

At least 11 people were killed and six wounded in an attack on a museum in Tunis on Wednesday, March 18, according to local reports. Interior Ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui told reporters that at least seven foreign tourists and one Tunisian were among the dead.

Aroui also said that the attackers had taken hostages, including tourists, inside the Bardo Museum, which is adjacent to the Tunisian national assembly.

Two attackers and one member of the police were killed in clashes during a rescue operation by Tunisian security forces to free the hostages.
