Smoke From Wildfire Blanket Skies Over Montebello

A brush fire broke out on the outskirts of the southern Californian city of Montebello on Sunday, leading to evacuations and a halt on operations at the nearby PXP oil field. The LA Times reported that the wildfire, which quickly spread to over 20 acres, also forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of State Route 60 Freeway.

Montebello Police Department said a fireman was sent to hospital due to heat exhaustion. The Los Angeles County Sheriff said areas around Legg Lake and Whittier Narrows were evacuated. Credit: Facebook/Sean Patrick Kenney‎
