SNP Could Wipe Labour Out in Scotland, Poll Finds

The Scottish National Party (SNP) could take an unprecedented number of seats in May’s election and play a central role in the formation of a new government, according to polling by the Conservative peer Lord Ashcroft.

The SNP look set to take a series of Labour seats, and are only a point away from winning Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy’s seat in East Renfrewshire. The surge in SNP support follows an independence referendum campaign last September.
