Solar Impulse Plane Grounded in Hawaii Until Spring 2016

A statement from the Solar Impulse team on July 15 said that the solar-powered aircraft would be forced to remain in Hawaii until spring 2016. The airplane’s batteries overheated during its flight from Nagoya to Hawaii causing, the statement said, “irreversible damage to certain parts of the batteries [that] will require repairs which will take several months.”
