Soyuz Launches Space Station Crew

A Russian Soyuz spacecraft left Earth shortly after 3am on Thursday, July 23, from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on its way to the International Space Station. Expedition 44 Soyuz Commander Oleg Kononenko of Roscosmos, NASA Flight Engineer Kjell Lindgren and Flight Engineer Kimiya Yui of JAXA will join three other crew members already on board after the craft docks with the station about six hours after launch.
