SpaceX Launches Dragon Cargo Capsule for International Space Station

SpaceX launched its Dragon cargo capsule for the International Space Station on Tuesday, April 14, riding on a Falcon 9 rocket into orbit and a planned rendezvous with the station on Friday morning. Dragon is bringing supplies and science experiments to the crew, which is on a year-long mission. The launch video includes some spectacular views.

A secondary mission was the attempted landing of Falcon 9’s first stage on a barge platform in the Atlantic Ocean. It was the second attempt, and, like the first, it was not a success. The stage did hit the barge, according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, “but too hard for survival.” Credit: YouTube/NASA
