SpaceX Release Video of First Stage Crash Landing

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket launched the Dragon cargo ship into orbit on Tuesday, April 14, heading for a Friday morning rendezvous with the International Space Station. But an attempt to land the rocket’s first stage on a platform in the Atlantic Ocean didn’t go as well as hoped. The rocket hit the target, but, according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, “too hard for survival.”

It was the second attempt to land the stage.
SpaceX gave the plan a 50-50 chance of success before the launch. The ultimate goal is to land the first stage safely so it can be reused. Credit: YouTube/SpaceX
