Spanish Coast Guards Rescue Migrants in Straits of Gibraltar

Spanish coast guards reported the rescue of 15 migrants off Tarifa, in the Strait of Gibraltar, on Wednesday, June 24. Twelve men, two women and one baby were crossing the straits in a rubber dinghy, when they were picked up by the rescue ship Salvamar Alkaid and transferred to the Tarifa port.

An EU summit on Thursday will address the influx of thousands of migrants, specifically through the Mediterranean, with plans to enable swifter deportation of those deemed to have arrived in the union illegally, according to the Guardian. Credit: YouTube/salvamentomaritimo
