Spanish Prime Minister Arrives at Plane Crash Site in French Alps

Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy travelled to the French Alps on Wednesday, March 25, to visit the crash site of the Germanwings Airbus A320. The plane, which was carrying 150 people, crashed after taking off from Barcelona on March 24. He met both the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande at the crash site before paying his respects at a local church.

At a news conference, the Spanish, French and German leaders spoke of their aim to work together to identify the victims and to clarify the causes of the crash. The plane was carrying 144 passengers and six crew members when it crashed near the French town of Seynes-les-Alpes after an unexplained eight-minute descent. Credit: YouTube/lamoncloa
