Strikes Continue on Palmyra as Islamic State Battles for Control of Historic Town

Activists in the historic Syrian town of Palmyra reported strikes by Syrian forces on Islamic State positions near to the town on May 20 as the battle for control of the town, home to a UNESCO world heritage Site, continues. IS fighters were reportedly pushed out of the town by Syrian forces on Sunday, May 16, but remain on the outskirts.
