Taryn Beatty Dancers Perform at National Sorry Day Ceremony in Parramatta

The Taryn Beatty Dancers performed in a ceremony to mark National Sorry Day at Centenary Square in the western Sydney suburb of Parramatta on Tuesday, May 26. The event also included a traditional smoking ceremony by Chris Tobin, the raising of the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

The ceremony was part of an annual, nation-wide day of observance to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, the children of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders removed from their families by the government agencies and church missions between the early 1900s into the 1970s.
