Tens of Thousands Rally Against Macedonian Government

Ten of thousands of protesters rallied in the Macedonian capital Skopje on Sunday, May 17, to call on the government and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski to resign. The protests have been sparked by months of scandals, after opposition politicians leaked secret recordings that appeared to link members of the government with vote-rigging and corruption.

Up to 40,000 people took part in the May 17 march, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). This video, captured by RFE/RL, shows demonstrators chanting and waving flags. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty
