Thousands of people have begun to flee Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal district, in response to the Pakistani Army’s continued offensive against suspected militants in the region. This footage captures scenes of vehicles packed with people, animals, and belongings, leaving the district on June 10.
In May, strikes involving artillery and helicopter gunships, targeted Taliban insurgents in the area, with local reports saying numerous “militant hideouts” were destroyed. The region is a known stronghold for Islamic militant organizations such as the Haqqani network and the Pakistani Taliban, according to Radio Free Europe. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty
