Thousands Greet Pope Francis in La Paz

Soldiers sang the Bolivian national anthem to a pan flute band as the pope touched down in La Paz on Wednesday evening, his first stop in Bolivia. President Evo Morales and around 4,000 people welcomed the pope at El Alto airport when he touched down just after 4pm, according to AP.

The pope spent four hours in La Paz, an abbreviated visit due to concerns about his ability to manage the city’s high altitude.
