Turkish Government Releases Video to Mark Gallipoli Anniversary

The Turkish government released a video on April 20 to mark the 100th anniversary of the World War I Gallipoli campaign. The campaign, one of the most brutal of the war, ended with a major victory for the Ottoman Empire over British Imperial and French forces. A combined total of more than 500,000 people were killed during the campaign.

The Turkish government’s video calls on people to remember the “martyrs and veterans” of the campaign, and features Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a graveyard. Credit: YouTube/T.C. Cumhurbaşkanlığı
