Tymoshenko Calls for Martial Law in Donetsk

Storyful

Leader of the All-Ukrainian Union “Fatherland” political party, Yulia Tymoshenko, called for the introduction of martial law in Donetsk on August 28.

Speaking during a brief press conference, Tymoshenko said that it is “necessary to convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament to approve the introduction of martial law in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and apply to governments and peoples of the world to provide effective militaryassistance to Ukraine.” Her announcement came as Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko announced he was cancelling a planned trip Turkey and calling an emergency meeting about the situation in Donetsk.
