UN Video Documents Damage Inflicted on Homes in Donetsk

This video, produced by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), documents the damage inflicted on homes in the embattled east Ukrainian city of Donetsk – a result of the ongoing shelling of areas of the city throughout the conflict between Ukrainian forces and pro-separatist militants.

In this footage, Donetsk resident Alexander Kovalenko, who lives surveys the remains of his home, which he says had been shelled six times, blowing the roof off. Alexander now lives in his cellar, refusing to leave the house he says he was born in. Another resident, Yuri Golovastov, is seen fixing his front door with his son, and an elderly woman, Galina Matyukova, returns daily to feed her cat.
