UNHCR Documents Desperate Journey of Migrants Bound for Italy

Storyful

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on July 24 documented the plight of migrants from Africa who attempt to get to Europe. Tens of thousands are fleeing war-torn Syria and sub-Saharan Africa in search of a better life, bound for Italy in small boats. However many perish along the way. Here, the UNHCR interviews some of the migrants who’ve been rescued by the Italian Navy. They refer to the boats as “boats of death”. Credit: YouTube/UNHCR
