UNRWA Chief Visits Palestinian Refugees at Yarmouk Camp in Damascus

In new footage released on March 12, Pierre Krähenbühl, the commissioner-general of UNRWA, the UN Palestinian refugee aid agency, meets with Palestinian refugees in Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, Syria. Krähenbühl arrived in Yarmouk on March 10, according to AFP. Krähenbühl was on a three-day visit to the camp following the resumption of aid to refugees in the area after an interruption from December 2014 to early March 2015.

“[We] have the deepest respect for the courage and strength that they show on a daily basis,” said Krähenbühl. “And from their courage and strength, we draw the determination to continue to assist them, to make a difference to their lives on a daily basis through distributions and assistance, but also to pass a message to the world that the injustice and the suffering that they go through cannot be forgotten.” Credit: YouTube/UNRWA
