US-Australian Forces Hold Joint Training Exercise in Northern Territory

Australian and US military forces participated in a joint training exercise, called Talisman Sabre (TS15), in Australia’s Northern Territory in July 2015. The biennial training activity aims to improve the planning and conduct of combined task force operations between the two countries’ militaries.

This video shows an amphibious landing exercise undertaken at Fog Bay, southwest of Darwin, on the morning of July 11. The exercise involved assault amphibious vehicles (AAV) landing on a beach to release hundreds of troops who prepared the area for the landing of further vehicles, cargo and personnel. The US military described the exercise as the “largest and most complex joint amphibious training of its kind”. Credit: Australian Defence Force
