US Coast Guard Rescues Mother, Daughter From Flooded South Carolina Home

Record rainfall triggered widespread flooding in South Carolina’s Lowcountry near Charleston this weekend, and authorities continued to make evacuations and rescues on October 4. This video from the US Coast Guard shows the rescue of a mother and her 15-month-old daughter.

More than a foot of rain fell in some areas around Charleston, according to local media, which broke some records that had stood since the late 1800s. Charleston reported there were 40 rescues of people stranded by the floodwater in a 10-hour period on October 4. Credit: US Coast Guard
