US F-16 Flies Anti-Islamic State Mission From Turkey

US forces have begun using Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base to launch sorties against Islamic State militants following Turkey’s decision last month to allow it. Turkey had been reluctant to allow the US launch strikes from its territory but relented after months of negotiations. Six F-16s and 300 airmen arrived on Sunday to fly the missions, according to Stars and Stripes, and by Wednesday, August 12, those flights had begun.
