US Navy Flies Over Man-Made Islands in South China Sea

A US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft flew over Chinese island expansions in the disputed Spratly Islands, on May 20. The Navy documented warnings from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy to leave the area during the overflight. The Philippines has sounded an alarm over China’s creation of artificial islands using the area’s atolls and reefs, where China already has military outposts.
